This track is my love letter to the music that shaped my youth. It takes me back to the mornings when I would wake up, slide a cassette into my tape player, and let the soundtrack of the day begin. Every song opened a new world, every melody sparked another dream.
Growing up in Czechoslovakia and later arriving in the United States in the summer of 1990, MTV became my window into a completely different universe. Michael Jackson, George Michael, Sade, Prince, Billy Idol, Bon Jovi, Captain Hollywood Project, Poison, Duran Duran, Deee-Lite, and so many others weren’t just artists—they became part of the soundtrack of my life.
The song also brings back memories of the Fantasy Club in Košice, where teenage excitement, first dances, first crushes, and endless dreams all blended into one unforgettable era. Looking back now, I realize it wasn’t just about the music—it was about how those songs became milestones that marked every chapter of growing up.
Groove in the Heart is a celebration of the golden age of cassettes, MTV, dance floors, and discovering who we were through the music we loved. Every reference in the lyrics represents a memory, a feeling, or a moment that helped shape the artist I would eventually become.
